So it is with the “children” of Abaim, who sing, dance and play Sega Tipik – an art that belongs to no one, yet has a place for all. And the French and Mauritian artists: the chef Cyril Lignac, the painter Khalid Nazroo, the writer Shenaz Patel, the landscape designer Johanna Rogers Martin and the musician Kan Chan Kin, who take life to the level of art. The inhabitants of the north of the island, who trace a bright future without turning their backs on the bitter history of the former colony. Or the young Beachcomber Artisans, Anne-Laure, Peeyusha and Nahit, trained through the social inclusion programmes of the Fondation Espoir Développement Beachcomber. Ainsi les « enfants » d’Abaim, qui chantent, dansent, jouent le sega tipik – une pratique artistique qui n’appartient à personne tout en faisant une place à chacun.
