Skirting the lagoon, the legendary Canonnier Beachcomber is entirely given over to light, nature, and freedom. An enchanting place for young and old. Pointe aux Canonniers, opposite the northern isles, is the only place in Mauritius from where you can admire both the sunrise and the sunset. There, set in a semicircle around a palm grove, two white wings house the rooms, some of them opening on to the lagoon. Slightly apart, a campsite stands around a children’s play area in the sand: the Kids Club! Fun and educational, energetic and eco-friendly, it welcomes your children aged 3 to 11. Inside, there are little poufs where they can curl up, a corner for reading and board games, Zumba and ravanne drums, all the colours of the rainbow plus paintbrushes to bring out their creative side. Outside, there’s a vegetable garden where all the children are encouraged to plant culinary herbs. Not forgetting the mini-Olympics on the beach, crab hunting and fishing with nets. For the teenagers, it’s hard to beat. There’s the fortress under siege! Not by the English garrisons, but by young people from all over the world. Revamped with pop music, the fortress – with all its treasures: billiards, table football, and video games – is their hideout… That is, when they are not off on a diving mission, stand up paddle boarding or kayaking, or in an archery tournament, on an escapade further inland or playing mini-golf. In the shade of the Filao trees, on the edge of the lagoon, the course is a replica of the last 9 holes of the legendary Mont Choisy Le Golf Course, designed by Peter Matkovich. Now that is art!
